The key role of an insurance consultant is to manage a client portfolio. To do this, they must make sales visits with the aim of retaining and securing the loyalty of the portfolio's clients and attracting new clients. To carry out their functions, the insurance advisor performs tasks similar to those performed by a wealth manager or financial advisor; nevertheless, the difference between these professionals lies in the features of the financial products on which they advise, the types of companies in which work and the types of clients they manage. Thus, the insurance consultant works at insurance companies and gives recommendations with regard to insurance products (life insurance, non-life insurance, home insurance, etc). The financial advisor gives recommendations to individuals and companies with regard to small financial products (mortgages, pension plans, investment funds, etc.) and works primarily at banks, including savings banks. The wealth manager gives financial advice to clients with high net worth and a wide variety of assets, for which they must obtain the highest profitability possible. They typically work at private banks.

• Market products such as life, health, home, auto, credit, etc. insurance through direct sales activities (visits to clients) or by attending to individuals that come to the financial institution. Also carry out sales activities over the phone or by email.
• Identify the customers' needs and advise them on the best insurance option, analysing their financial situation and personal interests.
• Highlight the importance and advantages of the insurance products offered through presentation, explanation and negotiation.
• Manage and monitor the administrative procedures necessary for commercial management, i.e., management of the insurance contract, preparation of commercial management reports, follow-up on the purchase, etc.
• Periodically report the work's results to the immediate superior, who is usually the insurance inspector.
• Prepare reports on the status of the client portfolio.

  Full-time with a flexible schedule, given that the consultant must adapt to the clients' schedules.

• Salary

  The remuneration of the insurance sales consultant is calculated based on the hours worked, education level, demonstrable experience, volume of the portfolio and the objectives achieved. This is not a a fixed remuneration, as a variable percentage is added to gross annual salaries which depends on the objectives achieved. It can vary between 15.397 and 19.676 euros (gross) a year and employee benefits are often added to this amount, such as health plans. Median: 17.406 euros annum gross.
