Senior citizen activity facilitator

Description

The concept Active ageing (introduced by the World Health Organization WHO) is the process of optimizing opportunities for health, participation and security in order to enhance quality of life as people age. Thus, the goal of senior citizen entertainers is to help senior citizens to carry out the activities of daily living by taking full advantage of their opportunities according to their needs, capacities and wishes.

Therefore, senior citizen entertainers functions are focused on two aspects. Senior citizen entertainers are focused on the sociocultural animation as a creator of shared spaces, relationship networks, community participation, enjoyment of leisure and culture, and improvement of solidarity.

Culture, education and leisure (trips, cultural facilities and institutions, etc.), health (health and prevention programmes or healthy exercises, hydrotherapy, etc.), new technologies (introduction to computers, internet browsing, smartphones, adapted vehicles, telecare, etc.), sports (companies, institutions or organizations specialized in adapted sports activities, etc.) and permanently interact with social services, institutions and companies aimed at senior citizens: public institutions, senior citizens centres, community centres, libraries, urban gardens, residences for senior citizens, senior citizens day centres, non-profit organizations (associations, social initiative cooperatives and foundations), etc.
