Description

SAP (Systems, Applications and Products) is a company of German origin that sells a set of business applications (SAP software modules) and specialises in developing software packages for business management. SAP modules can be applied to the following business areas: financial management, cash flow, project systems, human resources, sales and distribution, materials management and storage, production planning, quality management, etc.

SAP consultants are professionals who set parameters for SAP modules, have total knowledge of their functions and are capable of adapting them to the specific needs of each company. SAP consultants habitually specialise in one or more SAP modules but have a general understanding of other SAP applications in which they are not specialised.

SAP consultants have one of the most prominent profiles in the vast SAP universe and often work at information technology consultancies that implement solutions for other companies.

Tasks

The main duties of SAP consultants are as follows:
  • Analyse the client company's internal operations and suggest the most suitable SAP solutions in accordance with their needs. The analysis should include aspects such as: production, staff and functional processes, outsourcing, billing systems, etc.
  • Adapt the SAP system purchased by a company to its needs by configuring a number of parameters in the standard SAP module.
  • Plan actions necessary for the company to use the application: train the staff that will use it, resolve incidents which may arise from its installation, resolve doubts expressed by the company about the operation of the application, advise the company so that it may use the application in an efficient and effective way, etc.
  • Deal with a range of clients (businesses) simultaneously, and perform the tasks of analysis, planning and adaptation of actions needed to support these three abovementioned duties.
