Fleet Boss


The Fleet Manager plans and controls the company's drivers and means of transport, as well as the suitable maintenance of the vehicles and the fulfilment of legal requirements. This professional can have a national or international transport fleet under their responsibility and must know how to provide solutions for the goods transport that is generated.

Thanks to the incorporation of information technologies in the vehicles (GPS, mobile terminals, digital tachographs, etc), the Fleet Manager can coordinate and have more precise control of the fleet and the human resources allocated to it. This manager reports to the Physical Distribution Director or Transport Director.


  • Determines the number of vehicles required to comply with transport services.
    Plan the company's transport needs.
    Assess the effectiveness of the set transport procedures in order to establish measures for their improvement.
    Supervise the activities of the fleet under their responsibility and control and approve the vehicles' exit.
    Use computerised systems to monitor the fleet and control the vehicles' availability in order to assign them a new service.
    Also supervise the consumption, maintenance and costs of each of the vehicles that comprise the fleet.
  • Manage the necessary documentation and resolve incidents.

    Make sure the vehicles comply with legal regulations.
    If goods that are considered dangerous are transported, verify compliance with the ADR obligations (international regulations that govern the transport of dangerous goods) with advice from the safety adviser.
    Manage the operational documentation of the transport and carry out the appropriate procedures in relation to incidents that could arise.
    Attend to client complaints.
    Process claims to subcontracted services.
  • Globally manages transport services under its control.
