Mobile Interface Designer, Mobile Visual UI Designer

Description

The Mobile UI Designer designs the User Interface (UI) of apps for mobile devices (smartphones, tablets, etc.).

Their goal is to ensure the app has a technically attractive visual design, so-called 'user-centred design'. To achieve this, they use graphic design to facilitate the intended use of the app, balancing the technical functionality with visual elements adapted to users needs.

The Mobile UI Designer normally collaborates with the Expert in UX (User Experience) and the Mobile Product Manager, from the creation of wireframes and mockups, enabling them to define the definitive visual design of the application.

Tasks

- Identify the most appropriate user interface for the application by analysing its potential users, using information collected in different reports (generated by mobile marketing departments and/or managers, user experience experts, etc.).

- Design the user interface for the mobile app using specific techniques:
  • Use simulations and mockups designed to improve the user interface.
  • Perform usability testing/inspections to ensure accessibility and the correct display of the interface in the different mobile operating systems (using cognitive walkthrough, heuristic evaluation, joint simulation, etc.).
  • Design the GUI (Graphical User Interface), i.e. the look and feel design with which users will interact, based on the results of usability inspection and the user type defined.
  • Create visually appealing graphics for users and work with engineers and Mobile Product Managers to develop innovative app interfaces.
  • Collaborate with UX experts and mobile marketing managers to achieve visually attractive designs for users that are coherent with the brand, which enable the product to be marketed.
- Review and update the designs of mobile apps once on the market, through user testing and feedback received from users.
