The interface designer determines the characteristics and operation of the mechanisms or systems that allow interaction between the computer and the user (interface). Among other things, he or she determines the paths that the user can follow within a software program, the images that will appear on the screen and the criteria for organizing and querying the data in the application. It is a professional profile that presents a strong transnational connotation as the training and knowledge acquired in this field have universal application.


  • Specify the objectives and characteristics of a specific software program.
    Define how the user interacts with the application, the level of difficulty to access all program options and the interface to be used (graphic, text, etc.), in accordance with objectives set for the project (target public, etc.).
    Give form to the ideas and concepts to be presented by the software program.
  • Study technical solutions to satisfy the demands of the application.
    Use the principles of different disciplines such as graphic design, user-friendliness or ergonomics, to provide the application with the best user interface.
  • Use models and prototypes to observe the operation of the product.
    Use these models or programs to ensure that the product fulfills the expectations for which it was designed.
  • Participate in the creation of the graphic and verbal elements.
    Work jointly with content and design editors to create interface elements that will operate as guides or commands so that users can move through a specific application.
