Description
The clean-up artist is the member of the animation team in charge of removing impurities from the images, deleting defects and controlling the definition of the drawings made by the main illustrator and the inbetweener. Although this work concentrates on the preproduction process of an animation, it is also important in the production and post-production process, and it continues polishing details until the the digital product is finally finished.
Tasks
- Retouch drawings of characters in an animation:
Once the illustrators work has been completed, the clean-up inbetweener deletes any defects that may appear in an animation.
Detect and retouch any defects that may have persisted after the animation process or that may have appeared after going through different phases. - Retouch other parts of the production:
Follows the same process as with the models prior to the drawings, as well as the story boards to be presented to customers or distributors. - Polish the final drawing:
Before considering an animated production finished, the clean-up inbetweener goes over the final drawing one last time and retouches possible errors, impurities or defects.
