Shop sales assistant; sales promoter; sales adviser

Description

Shop assistants at shops that sell perfumes and beauty and hygiene products are responsible for directly welcoming, attending and selling products to clients that do not require special handling. One of their main goals is to expand and establish the portfolio of clients who come into the shop, providing and selling products (that don't require technical training) and providing personalised service that is satisfactory and high quality. They are also responsible for advising clients, evaluating their aesthetic needs and providing the recommended products in each case. The perfumery and cosmetics retail trade sector is characterised by including a large divserity of products, constantly changing, the majority defined as mass market. They will sell products like perfumes, soaps, lotions, hair dyes, shampoos, creams, high-range cosmetics, natural cosmetics, bath salts, depilation and tanning products, shaving products, body oils, bath gels, nail care and makeup, as well as many other products. Shop assistants generally report to the shop manager or department manager.

Tasks

  • Identify customer needs by asking any necessary questions to find out exactly what products they want, insofar as is possible.
  • Answer clientele's questions and provide information on the establishment's products and added services that are offered (trying on products, for example).
  • Direct, advise and offer different alternatives. Present clients with different products and services that can meet their needs, advising them precisely and orderly about specific product characteristics.
  • Provide aesthetic advisory services with regard to colour combinations, for example, or new market trends.
  • Prepare products and package them quickly and precisely, with the appropriate aesthetic level, taking into account the style and image the establishment wants to convey.
  • Supervise stock and oversee product stock. Contribute to doing product inventories.
  • Decorate the point of sale, preparing product strategies, optimising spaces and assuring that all articles complement each other. Collaborate in regularly changing the shop windows, combining products and other elements, according to criteria of the company image. Replace sold out articles following regular replacement criteria and procedures.
  • Detect supplying needs according to sales made to continuously update stocks. Verify all sales made in a specific period using the sales receipts or entering the codes into the computer.
  • Keep price tags updated and deliver advertising / promotional material occasionally according to the instructions received.
  • Carry out customer loyalty initiatives established by sales management.
