Description

These professionals are responsible for advising customers, evaluating their cultural needs and offering them the products (mainly books, music, videogames or films) that most meet their demands. These products do not generally require a specific technical background. One of their main goals is to expand and consolidate the client base who visit the establishment, supplying and selling products and providing quality, personalised service. Professionals are usually expected to take good care of their appearance and be approachable. These professionals usually report to the store manager or section manager.

Tasks

  • Greet and serve customers when they come into the shop. Identify their needs by asking any necessary questions to find out exactly what products customers want, insofar as is possible.
  • Study the technical specifications of cultural products and have a thorough knowledge of their features, so as to be able to promote and sell them more effectively.
  • Counsel and advise customers, offering different alternatives, and generally acting as a cultural guide.
  • Prepare products, wrap them and close sales.
  • Deal with complaints and issues within their remit, passing on any they cannot resolve to the relevant manager.
  • Oversee and monitor product stock. Additionally help with inventorying products and detecting products that need restocking.
  • Replenish stocks on shelves and counters..
  • They may sometimes be responsible for ordering new stock of products and receiving these products when they arrive.
  • They may take on the role of manager or section manager when these figues are absent.
