Description

Branding and decoration managers are responsible for communicating a hotel's concept and brand, conveying a chain's image through the design and decoration of both the interior and exterior, by selecting the right furniture, colours, materials and lighting. This professional's role aims to convey the hotel's identity, embedding it with personality and distinguishing it from the competition. This is undoubtedly a creative position, but it also requires excellent managerial and organisations skills in order to optimise resources and reach favourable economic agreements with different suppliers.

Tasks

  • Study the hotel's characteristics and the image defined for it, the profile of its potential guests and the services and facilities the establishment will feature.
  • Go on the first site visit alongside the architect, technical manager and contractors (this visit is particularly important in the case of existing buildings that are to be rehabilitated for use as hotels).
  • Study the first drawings, once these are available.
  • Design the decoration plan in line with the image devised for the hotel. This plan includes:
    The rehabilitation of the faades and exteriors (signage, lights, marquees, etc.).
    The planning and layout of space.
    Furniture in rooms and public areas.
    Desk materials, bathroom amenities other amenities.
    Exterior furniture (flower boxes, marquees, etc.).
    Other decorative elements.
    Lighting.
    Colours, textures and types of materials.
    Gardening.
    Flooring, walls.
    Restaurant (cutlery, glassware, kitchenware, etc.).
  • Make regular supervisory visits to the site while the work is taking place, assessing the bespoke solutions implemented.
  • Collaborate with the contractors on technical issues such as the electrical and mechanical design and engineering.
  • Make any amendments or modifications proposed by the hotel manager or operations manager.
  • Attend fairs and keep abreast of products available on the market, trends in decorating, furniture and accessories, design materials, etc.
  • Negotiate the best terms with suppliers, and make orders.
  • Control the decoration and maintenance costs.
