Description

This kind of professional designs, plans, organises and coordinates all of the tasks and logistics required to provide a group catering service in multi-purpose settings on behalf of a company or institution Catering services are used both in the context of one-off events and the normal operation of other activities including serviced to users of air, sea and land transportation; schools, hospitals, prisons, etc.

Tasks

Catering managers are responsible for the whole service, from initial contact with clients to the completion of delivery of the service.
  • Alongside the client, they set the specifications for the service, taking into account key factors such as where the event is being held, the number of people attending, the type of service, the decoration required, etc.
  • Draw up a detailed budget, including an itemised breakdown of the cost of the service.
  • Negotiate and manage the budget with the client.
  • Adapt the service to the client's culinary expectations, making modifications in order to deliver a comprehensive service (dcor, atmosphere, music), with one eye always on the budget.
  • Supervise any assembly required to deliver the service and ensure that it is up to the standard of quality agreed.
  • Hire and organise the necessary transport and logistics.
  • Oversee the supply of tableware, material and equipment required.
  • Coordinate and manage the team responsible for delivering the service.
  • Monitor and manage quality in the presentation of food and drink and compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Pack up and inventory following the completion of the service.
