Description

The tele-care expert is the professional developing home care systems that are provided through an electronic device or a transmitter connected to the network, and allow for immediate notification of any emergency 24 hours a day, every day a year. They also make it possible to control the person¿s health state.

These systems encompass devices containing the person¿s data history, home terminals that facilitate communication with the health center, mobile terminals with GPS systems, alarms, fall detectors, switches, temperature sensors, and control instruments that measure constants and transmit data to the headquarters of health care for chronic patients.

This professional works in companies specialized in the development of products for tele-care.

Tasks

¿ To design and implement home care systems based on ICT, for example, data management software that warn about calls and store patient clinical information, or management of staff assigned to each tele-patient.
¿ To designs and suggest products based on new technologies, people care and home care, for example, for the chronically ill, people with communication problems, or people with dementia. Some of these products are beepers for people with Alzheimer, messaging systems for people with hearing or oral communication difficulties, or mechanisms for measuring vital signs.
¿ To use programming languages to develop software and programming microprocessors that allows the performance of the products and tele-care systems.
¿ To check the operation by performing a test product.
¿ To monitor product installation at the customer¿s home to ensure that it works correctly.
¿ To resolve technical and performance issues of the tele-care product.
¿ To advise professionals in charge of the tele-care product marketing and sales on the technical issues.
¿ To train commercial staff and health professionals on the technical functioning of tele-care products.
