Description

The integrated management specialist is the professional who coordinates all aspects related to quality, the environment and occupational safety within agro-food companies. They work at an intermediate or advanced level in the company's structure, carrying out intermediate- or advanced-level functions based on the instructions of current occupational risk regulations. They also manage activities specific to a specialist who works with quality and environmental management systems, in accordance with the reference standards and guidelines established by the company.

Tasks

  • Management representative in matters related to quality, food safety, the environment and occupational risk prevention.
  • Knows and analyses the standards to be integrated for effective management of quality, the environment and safety in their application, in the particular case of agro-food industries.
  • Plans, programmes, implements, manages and controls occupational risk prevention in the food industry:
    Participate in the design, implementation, development and communication of the safety and occupational health policy implemented by agro-food company management.
    Analyze and promote compliance with current regulations regarding risk prevention at work, participating in the drafting of internal standards and collaborating in their diffusion and implementation.
    Analyze and assess the occupational risks derived from safety conditions in the work environment (local, facilities and equipment) derived from the pollutant atmosphere in work areas, and the work load and organization in the food industry.
    Propose a plan for preventive measures.
    Collaborate with other departments in the implementation of these measures.
    Observe their development and effectiveness.
    Propose a plan for continued improvement and establish it once approved by the responsible company organization.
    Supervise maintenance of the protection and alarm systems, and the proper use of individual and collective personal protection equipment.
    Participate in the definition of the disaster plan and act in situations requiring evacuation.
  • Design, develop, introduce, maintain and revise the environmental management system of the food industry:
    Participate in the design, implementation, development and communication of the company environment policy.
    Identify and characterize the environmental risks brought about by food industry activities and relate them to current legislation.
    Develop environmental prevention and control programs, supervising operation and handling of manufacturing processes and equipment.
    Verify compliance with prevention and environmental control measures during the production process, establishing corrective procedures if necessary.
    Develop and control waste collection, recycling and treatment processes and the use of by-products and surplus containers and materials.
    Organize the analysis and physical, chemical and microbiological testing of any liquid or solid waste created by the production process.
    Apply appropriate corrective actions. Assess the results of recommendations and implement the corresponding improvements.
  • Design, develop, introduce, maintain and revise the company quality system:
    Participate in the design, implementation, development and communication of the company quality policy.
    Lead the design and application of the plan for quality and self-control.
    Ensure operations take place according to the guidelines established in the Quality Plan.
    Audit the self-control plan (pre-requisite programs and HACCP system - Hazard s Analysis and Critical Control points -).
    Establish and develop plans for the control of: quality documentation; information; quality records; non-complying products; and inspection, measurement and testing equipment.
    Coordinate the management of non-compliance and claims.
    Audit the procedure for evaluating customer satisfaction.
    Establish procedures for when, why and how to implement corrective and preventive actions.
    Establish operating procedures for all other departments, in aspects related to quality.
    Establishes procedures and coordinates the processes for preparing the specifications of raw materials, approving suppliers and accepting supplies.
  • Coordinates the integration of the systems related to Quality, Food Safety, Environmental Management and Occupational Risk Prevention.
  • Knows and uses the company's tools and techniques for management and integration.
  • Establishes and follows the internal audit plans for the management systems as a fundamental tool for reviewing the implemented systems.
  • Prepares, at the basic content level, a plan for training and informing the workers with regard to quality, safety and the environment. They occasionally execute it.
  • Periodically informs the management team of the degree of adaptation of the integrated management system so they can take decisions and actions in order to improve this system.
  • This is the company's contact person for second-party (clients) and third-party (certification companies) auditors and inspectors.
