Description

The online training tutor is the professional in charge of executing the training action of an online course. Is in direct contact with students, coordinates the training program and monitors the scheduled activities. In most cases, the online training tutor has a methodological and didactic competence to accompany the student's learning processes, as well as technological competences that allow them developing comfortably in the telematic environment.

In the online learning context, he/she promotes dialogues where information flows in an organized and beneficial way for everyone in order to make communication easier.
In this sense, the online training tutor has a profile with the characteristics of an entertainer, to the extent that he/she develops tasks to stimulate groups for educational purposes, combining their knowledge of technology and pedagogy, offering a complete and effective environment for online training and real participation of students in all the activities. His/her functions include planning, coordinating, supporting and evaluating training action within virtual learning platforms.

Tasks

The online training tutor carries out the following tasks:
  • Boosts distance training activities.
    Tutors, supervises and accompanies the individual learning process of each student and evaluates the learning conditions so that they are optimal (comprehensibility, visibility, speed of response, etc).
  • Plans and organizes community interaction.
    Structures the online environment and participation, promoting interaction between students.
    Structures the technological environment and the way to participate in the community: file sharing, training networks, network collaboration projects, discussion forums, queries, content, newsletters, forms, etc.
    Feeds back the community and manages benefits for the members.
  • Plays the role of moderator.
    Asks questions, straighten the conversation when necessary and tries to generate bonds with the purpose of creating a climate of trust with the forum users and among them.
    Promotes external and internal communication actions.
  • Boosts the training content of the program through the appropriate techniques, strategies and resources (chats, forums, etc.).
    Boosts the learning environment, encouraging participation and analysing and synthesizing contributions to coordinate the interaction among the people who participate.
    Facilitates the affiliation to the virtual community of students and involves them in the training process in order to favour a proactive participation in the activities.
    Posts and updates study materials, looking for topics of interest and, in many cases, digitizing and adapting the materials.
  • Plays the role of guardian: monitors and advises the students.
    Solves technical and teaching doubts.
    Serves as a guide for the virtual student.
  • Evaluates the results of the training action with the application of the appropriate evaluation techniques and procedures.
    Values the achievement of the objectives (satisfaction, learning, applicability and impact) of each action carried out.
    Monitors, follows and evaluates in a permanent and personalized way the evolution of students in the training process and the level of qualification reached. Incorporates quality improvements in the training provided.
  • Promotes technicodidactic innovation and updating.
    Participates in online training programs and courses in order to identify technological innovations within distance learning platforms.
    Establishes exchange mechanisms with other trainers and professionals.
    Communicates quality improvements to introduce within virtual learning platforms.
