Description
Knowledge is an asset that companies must manage properly in order to improve the running and efficiency of the organisation and internal communication, thereby helping it to achieve its goals. In order to facilitate this process, knowledge managers possess the tools and skills to produce the most suitable solutions, harnessing IT to improve the organisation of data and documents, creating a digital or physical archive or storage system with total protection and security, which is easy and fast to update, and, finally, setting up the mechanisms to quickly and effectively circulate or disseminate this information when so required. The nature of this information can extremely varied: data on clients and workers, company-specific "knowledge": instructions on product design and production processes, reports on manufactured goods, technical documents, etc. The basic aim of this process is to turn information into an asset that generates value by rationalising processes, saving time and effort and preventing errors, which together help contain costs. By managing knowledge suitably they ensure that knowledge is transferred properly, thereby making it possible to reduce learning curves and avoiding the repetition of research or study tasks and of old errors, by following proven guidelines. In the aerospace sector this is a key role in order to make intensive use of technical knowledge and maximise companies' know-how.
