Master painter; painter decorator.

Description

Painters are professionals specialised in the preparation, processing and covering of continuous surfaces or diverse elements with paint and other similar products, with the two-fold objective of ensuring their protection and guaranteeing their embellishment through the application of various systems, techniques and products, both in new construction projects as well as restoration, renovation or maintenance projects in existing buildings.

Tasks

  • Prepare the work area and organise the environment.
  • Take surface measurements, based on the plans or on site.
  • Prepare and polish the surfaces and elements to be treated.
  • Prepare the paints, mix the colours and adjust the viscosity.
  • Carry out colour tests.
  • Apply different treatments prior to the finish on the supports.
  • Paint by hand the walls or structures with plastic or synthetic paints, water-based paints, bituminous paints, varnishes, shellacs, etc.
  • Paint walls or structures with a paint gun.
  • Conduct the dryness test.
  • Carry out repair treatments (anti-humidity and/or anti-oxidation paint, hardener, etc).
  • Create gildings using a mixture.
  • Glue wallpaper onto the walls.
  • Recoat in different manners.
  • Apply acrylic or oil-based patinas, with decorative effects using oil-based and acrylic coats.
  • Carry out imitations of different woods, marbles, stones and metal oxidations.
  • Carry out translucent patinas.
  • Apply weathering patinas.
  • Carry out various operations of preparation, maintenance and preservation of materials, tools, machines, work equipment as well as group and individual protective elements that are necessary to carry out the works.
