Description

This person is an intermediate or advanced-level technician with sufficient training to carry out field work related to the measurement of environmental parameters (water, air, noise, waste, etc). This measurement is carried out using automatic equipment that transmits the information, remotely or manually, with different instruments. They also have to obtain information from the indicators derived from the management of the administrations and entities with authority in environmental matters. In addition to keeping a record of the different indicator data on environmental quality, they must carry out the maintenance of the equipment and instruments that obtain this data.

Tasks

  • Take samples (of water, waste, etc.) for their subsequent analysis.
  • Take field measurements with specific instruments (sonometer, equipment to determine the parameters of the water or air, etc).
  • Carry out the maintenance and calibration of automatic devices and instruments that control atmospheric pollution and of remote equipment that controls the water quality.
  • Check and fine tune the equipment for real-time data transmission.
  • Obtain environmental information from administrations and companies with authority in environmental matters.
  • Record, statistically process and graphically represent, via computer programmes, the data on different environmental parameters obtained with control devices or manual analyses.
  • Interpret the data that is obtained and assess the risks associated with certain parameters.
  • Prepare standardised reports.
