Description

Multimedia programers are responsible for programming multimedia products (websites, videogames, online training courses, etc.). In their work, they use specific programming languages and create the instructions that let all product components work properly and produce the planned effects. Like most profiles related to new technologies, this profile also has strong transnational overtones, given that the preparation and knowledge acquired in this field have universal applications.

Tasks

  • Programme the multimedia application.
    Using the indications of the multimedia analyst and designer as a starting point, translate the general design of the application into a set of concrete and specific instructions, intelligible for the computer processor.
    Use different programming languages according to the specific application that is required.
    Use assistance tools to automatically generate a routine code that will complete the application.
  • In some cases, assess the technical feasibility of the project.
    Research into the existence of certain programmes or tools and determine if they can be created in the case that they do not exist.
    Assess as to the most appropriate multimedia for the presentation and distribution of a particular application.
  • Integrate elements into the application.
    Integrate texts, charts, visual and sound effects, interactive elements, etc, into the programme.
    Ensure the correct functioning of these new elements.
  • Control the quality.
    Once the application has been programmed, proceed to a first phase of error detection and correction.
    Carry out operational tests of the programme for the detection and elimination of eventual residual errors.
  • Participate in the adaptation of applications.
    Modify existing products to adapt them to new client or user requirements, improving them in some ways, updating the applications, etc.
