Programmer

Description

Software testers are responsible for testing new software before it goes on the market or is delivered to the client who ordered it. In addition, they solve problems and find and correct errors. The training and knowledge of this professional are almost identical to those of a software programmer; however, software testers have specialised in the quality control at a technical level of the applications that other program. This profile can be found in large corporations, because in small businesses, the duties of this professional are performed by the programmer.

Tasks

  • Test software.
    Use software as a user would to verify that instructions are correct and that they produce the desired result.
    Perform tests on programmes before they go on the market to ensure that users don't come accross errors.
  • Write programmes to detect errors in software.
    Create small specific applications to try to make a particular software err and thus be able to fix errors.
  • Determine critical points.
    Analyse and determine points of criticality of a software, namely, what its weaknesses are.
    Define the situations in which the software may fail.
  • Propose changes.
    Propose and write changes to the code of a programme to prevent detected errors.
    Propose alternative formulas to achieve desired results in a particular software.
    Propose areas of improvement for later versions of a software.
