General assistant; store clerk; shelf stocker

Description

Shelf stackers are responsible for performing tasks related to the placement and replenishing of goods in the shop and warehouse, in line with previously defined technical criteria, transporting products themselves or using mechanical devices. It is worth noting that this is a very physical role and candidates should be in a suitable condition to perform these tasks. These professionals use various machines and tools to perform their tasks. Warehouse equipment and machinery, such as forklift trucks, conveyor belts, pallet and pallet removal machines, hand trucks, seasline machines, labelling machines, pallet jacks, forklifts, scales, stackers, etc. Similarly, tools include barcode readers, logs for the entry and exit of goods, consignment notes, pallets, shelves, etc. These professionals follow the instructions of the store manager in order to organise and maintain material in order and comfortable conditions in the shop and warehouse.

Tasks

  • Load and unload lorries that transport goods.
  • Open packages and check that the products match the description and condition of the order.
  • Notify the store manager of any issues with the receipt of productions, whether administrative or physical.
  • Stack products on the shelves of the establishment or in the warehouse, in line with the set layout.
  • Arrange and organise products in the warehouse.
  • Monitor stocks in the establishment and replenish shelves or aisles when necessary.
  • Note down the products of which more is needed in each section.
  • Guide customers as to the location of products in aisles and with regards to whether products are in stock or not; also support the different sections of the establishment with basic tasks relating to the handling or movement of products.
  • Assist with periodic inventories of products.
  • Provide the home delivery service, in other words, transport products to customers' houses.
  • Maintain direct contact with goods suppliers.
  • In some companies, they also enter the shipping notes that come with goods into the computer system and create invoices.
