Product Manager

Description

These professionals are responsible for designing and developing new tourist products, as well as packages which include travel and accommodation in a tourist destination at a very competitive rate. These products are subsequently marketed by travel wholesalers, agencies and the organisations known as DMCs (Destination Management Companies), small independent companies which develop tourist products and sell them directly.

Tasks

  • Design and produce tourist products.
    Research and analyse market trends in order to gain an insight into the type of consumer at whom the tourist product is aimed (market segmentation by age, income, etc.), as well as the most in-demand destinations (sun and beach, rural areas, cultural tourism, urban, etc.).
    Constantly refresh their knowledge of the health, safety and climate conditions in the different destinations.
    Assess the tourist infrastructure available on the ground, analysing the characteristics of the hotels (location, rating, services) and the possibility of arranging complementary services (complementary trips, entertainment offers and ticket availability, etc.).
    Have expert knowledge of advance negotiation and hiring all necessary accommodation and transport services (up to one year in advance).
    Hire guides.
    Create tourist packages, taking account of the destinations, hotel ratings and transport, offering competitive rates
  • Undertake the marketing of the tourist product or package.
    Draw up the promotional material and designs the advertising campaigns.
    Manage retail sales (travel agencies).
    Attend tourist promotion fairs.
    Monitor sales, so as to expand the range or redesign products that aren't selling well.
    Keep stock of product expiry dates in order to be able to cancel the relevant bookings.
