Purchasing Manager

Description

These professionals are responsible for managing the internal supply of raw materials or other complements on the basis of requests from the various departments and purchasing these, coordinating the management thereof with the administrative division. They have the skills and the know-how to ensure the provision of the most technologically suitable materials for the processes implemented or to be implemented.

Tasks

  • Manage flows of internal needs for raw materials and accessories.
    Receive purchase orders from the different departments or sections in the organization.
    Analyze the orders received.
    Verify existing stocks.
  • Constantly work on the investigation and knowledge of materials and complements, machinery and ready-to-wear processes.
    Attend material and machinery fairs of the textile sector.
    Read sector-specialized press.
    Maintain permanent contact with textile suppliers.
  • Plan purchases of raw materials, textiles and complements, considering:
    The needs of the production plan.
    Storage facilities and costs.
    Maintaining stock levels within the limits set by the organization.
    Discounts to wholesalers and delivery times.
  • Purchase new machinery to optimize ready-to-wear processes, in conjunction with Management.
  • Make calculations of the cost of the garments to be made to determine margins on purchases.
  • Purchase raw materials and complements.
    Contact suppliers.
    Request estimates from suitable suppliers.
    Coordinate the management of purchases with administration.
    Accept budgets and issue purchase orders.
    Manage all documentation related to purchases.
  • Control reception of raw materials, textiles and complements.
    Verify reception conditions
    Ensure appropriate quality control together with the Store and/or Logistics Manager.
    Return any items that do not pass the quality control.
  • Negotiate conditions with suppliers (prices, conditions, payment terms, etc.).
    Look for new suppliers and renegotiate domestic and international agreements.
    Assess and select suppliers according to their supply capacity in accordance with the requirements of the organization to maintain suitable quality standards.
    Update supplier databases to maintain and increase the number of approved suppliers.
    Make claims to suppliers for non-fulfilment of established timelines and agreements.
