Research and Development Manager
Description
This professional is responsible for innovation in an organisation, in terms of systems, processes and products. Undertake to plan, manage and control the procedures for a Research and Development (hereinafter R&D) Management System, across the board.
Tasks
- Establish directives for the effective organisation and management of R&D, and ensure that these are implemented and maintained within the organisation.
- Brief the General Manager about the performance of the R&D Management System and about any needs for improvement.
- Promote R&D-related activities throughout the organisation.
- Analyse the internal and external techological situation.
- Identify and assess threats and opportunities in relation to technological progress.
- Define the basic targets of R&D activities.
- Analyse and select R&D ideas.
- Execute and delegate R&D projects to managers.
- Technical troubleshooting, financial estimates, contacting with and approval of suppliers, in line with set quality standards and deadlines.
- Plan and develop the process required for the production of R&D products, including, where applicable, the following phases: basic design; detailed design; pilot testing; redesign, demonstration and production; marketing.
- Select and manager the R&D project portfolio.
- Conduct technology transfer.
- Monitor, control and record results using documentation.
- Responsible for protection and management of results.
- Conduct measurement, analysis and improvement.
- Ensure the retention of activities that may generate own technologies and patents, through which it is possible to obtain profit for technology transfer or through tax deductions.
- Conduct technological vigilance.
- Collaborate with other departments of the company, chiefly sales, marketing, production, in order to achieve targets.
