Description

The food safety management expert coordinates all the aspects that can influence the harmlessness of the products made by the company; in other words, they carry out functions of prevention, analysis, control and management in order to ensure that none of the prepared foods cause a health problem for the consumer. This professional works in the quality management department.

Tasks

  • Designs, develops, implements, reviews and updates the company's Food Safety Management System. Under this responsibility, this individual:
    Serves as the senior figure with regards to Food Safety and coordinates the company's food safety committee.
    Establishes, implements and reviews the framework of the food safety management system.
    Establishes, implements and reviews the self-control system, based on the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) system.
    Establishes, implements and reviews the Food Safety support programmes (prerequisite programmes).
    Establishes, implements and reviews a product traceability and recall system.
    Establishes a system for rapid alert, crisis management and emergency situations.
  • Informs all the company's departments involved of all the new developments related to food legislation.
  • Informs, advises and suggests changes for adaptation to the food safety regulations.
  • Acts as a representative with suppliers, clients, administration and other interested parties in matters related to food safety.
  • Coordinates, and in some cases carries out, food safety training activities for the company's staff.
  • Assesses the adaptation of the infrastructures and work environment with regard to food safety, as well as the handling and manufacturing practices carried out by the food handlers, in order to ensure the carrying out of the hygiene measures established to prevent contamination risk factors.
