Methods technician (methods specialist), production organisation technician.

Description

The method and time technician is the person responsible for describing, improving and recording the methods used in every work position and the respective assigned times, taking into account the occupational risk prevention regulations. It is a specialised job within process engineering. It is a task that is part of the production process, mostly in labour-intensive production where, in general, a part of the worker's salary depends on the activity they carry out (bonus). This profile generally answers to the production director, plant manager or method and time manager.

Tasks

  • Implement the methods to organise production.
  • Record the worker's current method (set of operations completed to carry out the production phase).
  • Track the time spent by the worker following a specific method and apply different control techniques: timekeeping, predetermined time, etc.
  • Assess the activity carried out by the worker.
  • Analyse the current methods and propose improvements or changes that could affect one or more workers.
  • Implement, record and measure the new methods, with new times and activities.
  • Establish a process of continuous improvement.
  • Manage the appropriate modifications for machines and facilities, being responsible for their implementation in collaboration with the manufacturing department.
  • Establish relationships with the workers' representatives in order to agree on methods, activities, times, bonuses, etc.
  • Inform the finance department of actual outcomes of the activities carried out by the workers.
  • Continuously supervise the correct operation of the system, maintaining it and proposing continuous improvements.
  • Identify training needs in order to be able to improve methods.
