Description

A professional who assembles, repairs and starts up the electrical, electronic, pneumatic and hydraulic systems of capital equipment and industrial machinery, based on technical assembly plans and instructions, using the required utensils and tools, maintaining the capital equipment and industrial machinery in good working condition and available during the guarantee period and fulfilling work-related risk prevention and environmental protection regulations.

They work in the assembly and installation of industrial machinery and equipment. They may also work in Technical Assistance Services (TAS) in capital equipment and machine-tool manufacturing companies. They work in small- and medium-size companies in the machine and electrical, electronic and industrial automation systems manufacturing sectors. Generally speaking, in medium- and large-size companies, they report to a senior technician and they may also be in charge of a group of operators.

Tasks

  • Assemble electrical installations and electronic equipment in capital equipment and industrial machinery, complying with work-related risk prevention and environmental protection regulations.
    Interpret technical documentation and identify the different components to be used.
    Carry out assembly by placing each component or piece of equipment in the correct position and using the required elements for junctions in duct work.
    Use the correct connection elements and tools for the conductor type and section (wires and cables).
    Mark the components and wiring with the specified signposting on the diagram (numbering, labels, standard and other colours).
  • Repair electrical and electronic systems in capital equipment and industrial machinery, replacing faulty components by following the established procedures.
    Diagnose the status of the different units and elements, checking their functional parts (mechanical, electromagnetic and electronic).
    Use the measuring equipment in accordance with the established procedure.
    Check and review the different electrical controls for each parameter, identifying the fault and determining the elements that need replacing or repairing.
    Carry out repairs applying the established personal and environmental safety regulations.
  • Assemble pneumatic and hydraulic circuit installations in capital equipment and industrial machinery to position the components using plans, diagrams, regulations and technical specifications.
    Identify the pneumo-hydraulic components and classify them according to the established assembly sequence.
    Place each component or piece of equipment in the stipulated position within the tolerances established in each case, using the procedure and specified tool.
    Take into account the Technical Instructions (TI) of the Pressure Machine Regulations.
  • Repair electrical and electronic systems in capital equipment and industrial machinery, replacing faulty components:
    Diagnose the scope of the faults observed (such as sequence errors, seizures, loss of power).
    Review the quality and status of the system's energy flows (compressed air and oleo-hydraulic fluid).
    Repair and replace faulty elements using a disassembly and assembly process, selecting equipment and tools, auxiliary means and spare parts.
  • Create a layout of the circuits and elements of the pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical and electronic systems for their reconstruction and repair using the specific details of the equipment and machinery assets and their technical documentation.
