Consultant, Textile Engineer

Description

This profesional works in business consulting firms specialising in research and development in and the application of consultancy to textiles manufacturing processes, across the board.

Tasks

  • Perform audits and evaluations at companies on:
    Technology: Analysis of the technology of companies, its longevity, implementation.
    The innovation process: Analyze how the company manages innovation in reference to new products or processes.
    The product portfolio: Analysis of current products in order to be able to recommend new business directions. Identify possibilities for improvement and opportunities on the basis of previous audits.
    The market: Analysis of the market opportunities that can emerge on the appearance of technologies, social or demographic changes, or disintegration of the production network.
  • Follow-up the client portfolio (new proposals, loyalty and profitability) and projects (feasibility, risks, delivery quality, degree of achievement).
  • Elaboration and execution of Action Plans for each project. The consultant should ensure that client companies execute the proposed Action Plans combining day-to-day activities and resolving any problems as they arise.
    These action plans must define:
    The objectives to be achieved.
    Actions that must be carried out to achieve the objectives.
    Resources available for implementation of the actions.
    Method and operation (procedures, production processes or control systems).
    Control, follow-up and evaluation of on-going projects.
  • Systematisation of how to proceed and how to manage changes that occur in the company at both an organizational and technological level:
    Need detection.
    Planning change.
    Delegation of responsibilities.
    Share in decision making.
    Contracting of resources.
    Create methods and procedures to develop solutions to problems emerging from changes.
    Involve staff at all organizational levels.
  • Create samples, documents and reports related to services offered by the company.
  • Transfer of know-how related to new materials, technologies, new production processes and new textile applications. The transfer of the knowledge takes place through transfer network. The consultant should be able to:
    Identify knowledge receivers and generators.
    Identify the know-how to be transferred and assess it economically.
    Support the company's legal department in writing up the conditions for using intellectual property (this dept. is normally in charge of managing contracts involving the transfer of technology).
