Description

This professional oversees the design and calculation of aeronautic elements able to bear the strain to which they will be subjected in optimum safety conditions and that respond to the requirements of the project, at a technical and economic level (generation of economies of scale, manufacturing costs and maintenance...). In this post, the expert concentrates on both interna and external structures for example, passenger areas or ailerons and undercarriages. The engineering design determines the materials that must be used to build and mount each piece or section according to its characteristics and behaviour via different calculation methodologies and support models. This will allow virtual designs in 3D to be produced (generated by the designer in the case of passenger areas) and the creation of prototypes using ALIAS modellers.

Tasks

  • Carry out the three-dimensional structural design with the assistance of a software tool, eg, CATIA. Starting from the initial design, carry out different tests to ensure that the project is correctly developed.
  • Study structure loads (ailerons, undercarriage, etc.) and laws of operation of the various materials taking into account different operation hypothesis.
  • Rehearse different possibilities and pose new technical possibilities considering the various size options and materials (metals, composites, etc.). In each case, determin the critical load.
  • Choose the final design taking into account functionality, the cost, the fulfillment of requirements and the manufacturing process.
  • Produce the results report and description of the structure, and deliver it to the customer.
