The scanner works with high-resolution electronic or optical scanning equipment to create and reproduce images, photographs or still images and thus use them in the production of photolithographs or other publication mediums. They also assess and correct deficiencies in the mediums to be reproduced (photographs, video tapes, films, etc).

• Use the high-resolution scanner to produce negatives or printed copies of each of the primary colours and black in the original copy.
• Download the scanned film and develop the image filmed with processing equipment.
• Inspect the film to determine the quality of the negatives or printed copies.
• Create proofs to determine the adjustments that should be made during the scanning process.
• Analyse the master copy to assess the colour density, contrast, etc. through the use of a density meter and specific knowledge of light and colour.
• Make the adjustments necessary for high-quality scanning, using the scanner's software.
