Supply Director

Description

The purchasing and logistics director manages the purchasing operations of the company in accordance with the adopted strategy and ensures that business objectives are met from his area of activity. The responsibilities and duties assumed by this professional within the company mean that he is considered a true and specialised technician. In summary, the purchasing and logistics director has a dual role: communicator, since most of the working day is spent liaising with professionals in other departments and suppliers, and manager, with major responsibilities given that he must solve and deal with any incidents which may arise and research new methodologies to optimise the management of the purchasing and logistics processes.

Tasks

  • Directs the supply of materials.
    Establish the criteria to be met with regard to quality, technological skills, delivery and management leadership.
    Determine the scope of application of the logistic partnership in terms of suppliers.
    Define the negotiation policy in terms of supply and establish contract conditions with suppliers.
    Address supplier complaints and analyse their causes in order to find solutions.
    Define company procedures and processes with regard to material and product purchases.
    Coordinate the IT systems of the purchasing, storage and production departments to enable the efficient management of the unit.
    Coordinate the flow of materials and finished products.
  • Define purchasing and supply policies.
    Supervise and manage the recruitment of potential suppliers.
    Study the logistic implications of increasing or reducing the number of suppliers.
    Manage cost reduction and supplier improvement plans and activities.
    Draw up an internal sales communications improvement system and choose new IT systems accordingly (EDI, ERP,...).
    Analyse market conditions and changes likely to substantially affect business operations.
  • Manage material stocks.
    Develops and controls stock inventories with the aim of planning necessary purchases.
