Description

The inverse logistics manager is in charge of organising and handling the reverse logistic flow of products in light of their renewed sale, recycling, refuse or waste treatment. Inverse logistics therefore consist in managing the return of goods to the supply chain in the most cost-effective and efficient manner possible. This business department handles the recovery of used materials, such as containers, packaging and hazardous waste, as well as inventory surplus return processes, materials returned by customers, obsolete products or seasonal inventories. Inverse logistics - also known as retro-logistics or green logistics - not only involves a cost reduction for the company thanks to the reuse of materials which were no longer meant to be used, but also represents an indisputable environmental benefit.

Tasks

  • Define and implement the return system applicable to the materials or products which form the object of the inverse logistics process.
  • Coordinate with the sales department regarding all matters related to the return of defective inventories or products via commercial channels for the relevant processing.
  • Define and implement treatment protocols applicable to products involved in the inverse logistics flow.
  • Manage the inverse logistics budget.
  • Define the the casuistry of containers and packaging.
  • Optimise the flow of container and packaging disposal.
  • Design logistic systems, circuits and plans or programmes for the recovery and processing of products or materials at the end of their useful life.
  • Define the procedures to be applied and systems or communication media to be used between the companies involved in this process.
  • Establish conditions and requirements which satisfy subcontractor companies.
  • Handle all inverse flow operations or activities and coordinate the human resources and logistics devoted to this process.
  • Provide advice regarding the observance of environmental legislation and the reduction of processing costs.
  • Define cost control systems and their operation.
  • Intervene in the definition of the environmental policy of the company.
