Cutting Section Manager
Description
This professional is responsible for cutting fabrics, leather/furs and other materials, applying the necessary techniques and procedures in order to achieve the quantity and quality required, in line with security standards and within the deadlines established. This occupation is performed after the pattern making stage, and prior to the garment sewing and assembly section.
Tasks
- Deliver the production plan to cutters together with cutting notes, parameters to be controlled, inspections to be carried out and documentation.
- Clarify any questions cutting operators have about the production plan.
- Interpret technical specifications and production records to organise the work.
- Perform cutting studies to optimise materials.
- Prepare, schedule, adjust and readjust cutting equipment and machines, as well as the condition of the materials to have their ready for production.
- Carry out and supervise the assigned cutting operations, employing the most suitable system and assuring production meets the planned quality and quantities. Systematically verify that:
The spreading and positioning of the fabric and laminated materials is without tension or creases.
The cut must accurately match the shape and size of the pattern, without any deformation of the edges of the pieces and according to the pattern, including all notches and holes.
The identification, classification and organization of cut pieces is performed according to model, size, color, surface structure, etc., following production orders, separating out any defective pieces and replacing them with correct ones. - Perform basic machine maintenance to prevent stops or restore production.
- Take charge of replacing broken or worn elements to restore normal operating conditions safely and effectively.
- Provide technical information about the work done, in order to contribute to production plans and quality management.
