Description

Offshoring production managers are responsible for liaising between the parent organization or company and the international suppliers with whom some services or parts of the production process are outsourced. Therefore, they carry out management, coordination and supervision tasks to subcontract various services necessary for the production process: labour, certain parts of the production process, supplies, knowledge or experience, maintenance services, among others.

As an example, traditionally from the textile sector, outdoor garment workshops are contracted, and some installation or construction companies collaborate with local companies to carry out the projects on site.

Tasks

  • Assist in the design and implementation of the outsourcing strategy.
  • Jointly with management and the Production Department, establish the selection criteria of the supplier companies abroad to work with the organization.
  • Maintain the supplier database.
  • Actively seek and preselect suppliers.
  • Manage the selection process correspond with candidates.
  • Develop lasting and profitable relationships with suppliers.
  • Carry out negotiations with offshoring suppliers and their subcontracting.
  • Schedule and organize the work to be done by external suppliers.
  • Assess quality standards, respect for the environment, corporate social responsibility (their compliance with legislation and workplace health and safety conditions).
  • Supervise the quality of the work and compliance with the terms negotiated with offshoring supplier companies.
  • Regularly perform in-situ inspections and audits of the external collaboration task being carried out.
  • Review the delivery notes from offshoring external supplier companies so that payments are managed properly by administration.
  • Take charge of all logistics between the organization and suppliers.
  • When necessary, go on-site to supervise the tasks carried out by offshoring suppliers and evaluate the quality of work looking after the interests of the final client.
