Management analyst

Description

These professionals analyse the efficiency of the management methods employed by private companies or public administrations in order to subsequently improve them or implement new ones. They propose improvements to the client company's organisational structure, systems and procedures in fields as diverse as production or services operations, human resources, relationships with suppliers and clients, information and communication system management, etc. Since it is so variable, it is difficult to define this professional's profile: many consultants specialise in specific sectors, while others specialise in particular departments (procurement, finance, human resources, etc.). Thus, it could be said that administration consultancy is not a clearly defined occupation, but rather a way of classifying those professionals who implement projects at companies in order to improve their results. Since these projects are so different, these professionals' duties may vary substantially from one company to another. Thus, they must constantly refresh their knowledge and learn to specialise in the new tasks they are assigned on a daily basis. Tasks

Administration consultants' tasks can vary substantially from one project to another. However, their most common tasks are the following:
  • Conduct studies on the state of the company and the sector, in order to gain an overview of the company at which the project is to be implemented.
  • Analyse and define weak points and possible errors in the company's management in order to search for possible solutions.
  • In order to obtain this information, these consultants must analyse data that is normally stored in a computer system, interview the managers of and professionals in the different areas in which the project is to be implemented and perform detailed observation of the operations to be carried out.
  • Study and classify the data obtained using technical and mathematical criteria.
  • Draw up a report outlining appropriate recommendations, solutions and modifications in order to improve the company's performance.
  • Present the report to the client, so as to make a subsequent decision as to the ideal measures to be implemented at the company.
  • Oversee the correct implementation of the project.
  • On completion of the implementation stage, present reports on the results of their work to the client.
  • Where necessary, they may also train the company's staff to use the new technological tools or in the processes implemented.
