Customer Service Manager

Description

The ECR manager is a recent figure which is still in its emerging stages and who constitutes an answer to new techniques and trends applied to commercial distribution and continuous supply along the entire logistics process, based on joint business ventures and activity programmes. This professional is in charge of implementing projects based on this new business management methodology. It is worth mentioning that ECR (Efficient Reply to the Consumer) is not a kind of software, but rather a set of logistics and business strategies the purpose of which is to achieve a reduction in unnecessary costs across the entire supply chain, through the joint effort of both business concerns and suppliers towards transferring these savings to the end price of the product. The ECR manager is in charge of the control and coordination not only of various company departments, but also subcontracted companies and suppliers in order to guarantee the optimum flow of merchandise and information. The ECR manager must therefore have excellent communication and negotiation skills, have some knowledge of business and marketing management and be familiar with IT systems, given that these are the main communication tools used. Reports to the Physical Distribution Director.

Tasks

  • Analyse areas of the logistics chain in need of comprehensive improvement.
  • Implement the inter-company cooperation policy according to ECR guidelines, liaising with spokesmen from participating companies.
  • Intervene in negotiations and decision-making between the companies involved.
  • Participate in designing the ongoing supply system between the supplier, transportation and marketing companies and contribute to establishing action procedures between the businesses involved.
  • Prepare the IT and data transmission systems required by participant companies.
  • Coordinate the start-up of the ECR system with the various relevant heads of department of the company.
  • Coordinate the provision of services and the completion of procedures together with the subcontracted companies involved in the ECR system.
  • Suggest and negotiate general cost-reduction measures.
  • Handle and monitor the development of the system, analyse any problems or deviations and propose solutions.
  • Optimise the logistics flow.
  • Control and keep a register of the ratios established for the following: costs, level of service and implications with regard to logistic planning.
