Food: Food Industry
The food industry focusses on the production, transformation, preparation and packaging of food products for human consumption. It interacts with the primary sector, from which it receives the raw materials (agriculture, livestock) and the tertiary sector, to which it sells the goods produced. In addition to producing food and drink, there is a strong innovation and research element in the food industry, facilitating technological developments, improvements to the quality of products and control over and a reduction of environmental impacts.
