Farm Service Manager

Description

In transgenic seeds, also known as GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms), genetic material is modified using genetic engineering techniques in order to improve specific features, such as resistance to pesticides, herbicides, insects and unfavourable conditions. The main role of a seed salesman is to liaise between agricultural firms selling transgenic seeds and individual farmers. They work for the retail sales department, promoting the demand for products among farmers, and liaising between existing customers and the company. They make sales and carry out promotional programmes, as well as offering any advice needed about specific farming methods to buyers of transgenic seeds. They are also responsible for drawing up reports about transgenic foods in order to show them to influence groups, potential customers and to the general public.

Tasks

  • Manage internal cooperation between the sales department and farmers.
  • Contribute to effective communications between farmers and the company.
  • Manage all sales and promotional programmes in the assigned region.
  • Design sales arguments, incentive and price policies.
  • Keep the seed portfolios updated.
  • Organise conferences for farmers in experimental fields at companies.
  • Advise farmers about the properties, uses and specific features of transgenic seeds.
  • Have in-depth knowledge of the business and cultivation practices of the farmers.
  • Demonstrate product efficacy and aim to stand out among other competitors.
  • Supervise all publicity and promotional actions to increase product awareness with farmers.
  • Look for names for new products and coordinate their launch.
  • Carry out market studies and oversee the acceptance of new and existing products.
  • Organise joint initiatives with farmers associations, to promote the sale of transgenic products to end consumers.
