Description

A boat maintenance technician's professional profile includes managing and organizing repair work, including the repair of deck parts, derricks and the use of composite materials to carry out the corresponding repairs. The boat maintenance technician master's tools, techniques and materials for the inspection and maintenance of sports and recreational boats. Such a technician is trained to use and maintain the hull, structures, elements and systems that make up recreational boats so that they are in good working conditions, using established procedures and complying with the required safety, occupational risk prevention and environmental specifications. He works mainly in companies that carry out the maintenance, repair and restructuring of ships and yachts.

Tasks

- Identify and collaborate in planning the work to be carried out with the rest of the specialist technicians, respecting the organic and functional hierarchy of the organisation.
- Specify the characteristics of the work area, choose and manage materials, tools, products and the type of work to be carried out in accordance with the technical specifications of the repairs, sanitation and maintenance operations to be performed.
- Carry out Boat maintenance using composite materials (fibres, resins, aluminium, plastics, steels, etc.) and using the appropriate intervention techniques in each case.
- To carry out, under supervision, polished and finished caulking in the indicated areas, as well as Installation and maintenance of sails, rigging and masts for sailboats and the deck of recreational and sports boats.
- Maintenance and manufacture of sails and other textile elements of ships.
- Record the work performed, specifying the tasks, tools and equipment used.
