Description

The main function of the passenger boarding and disembarking assistant is to receive passengers transiting between the ship and land, and vice versa. When the cruise passengers arrive at the port, they enter the passenger terminal, either because they have landed to go sightseeing or because they have finished their journey. Therefore, they must receive instructions to board or alight safely and quickly, which requires an organization in which the technician is part of. This organisation, which is located between ship managers and companies providing tourist services, operates in the terminal on a one-off basis at the time of the arrival of the ships.
Typically, boarding and disembarking passenger operations when a cruise ship arrives at a port involve thousands of tourist passengers who must access the tourist services they have contracted, load or unload their luggage and receive instructions on how to access the transportation services that will facilitate their journey by land.
Thus, the boarding and disembarking assistant is in charge of attending to passengers at the port terminal and his duties include checking baggage, checking in as well as boarding and disembarking passengers on transit.
Commencing work as an assistant for boarding and disembarking cruise passengers is a good way to enter the cruise ship tourism sector, enabling you to get into any qualified job position within the consignee companies that provide services to the shipping companies which dock at the port.

Tasks

ŋ Review the information of the passengers that have to board, to see if there are any special cases (disabled persons, unaccompanied children, etc.). If so, the appropriate actions are taken: notify special care staff, the public relations office of the company, etc.

ŋ Inform the passenger of any issues related to boarding and/or disembarking, the ship and the journey.

ŋ Report any unforeseen circumstances to the ship's authorities.

ŋ Attend, assist and notify passengers who are on transit in the terminals.

ŋ Address all types of questions posed by passengers.
