(cold and warm) that guarantee the well-being of the crew. As a professional maintenance and repair technician, this professional is specialized in the execution of the different works that require the assembly, maintenance and conservation of the air conditioning systems of the boats.
The task is similar to that of an air-conditioning system technician for buildings, serving a variety of industrial needs. The current technology, based on the compression and expansion properties of liquefiable gases, allows the production of cold and heat for the air conditioning of buildings by means of heat pump equipment, in addition to regulating the ambient humidity and the speed of indoor air.
The mission of a comfort system technician on a boat is to achieve correct air conditioning by means of cooling and heating systems. The specialization required for this type of installations on ships usually comes from small companies that carry out the maintenance and repair operations of the cooling and air conditioning equipment of sport and recreational boats. Using established procedures and complying with the required safety, occupational risk prevention and environmental specifications.
Tasks
- Interprets the plans and diagrams of air-conditioning installations, generally in confined areas (inside ships).
- Selects basic materials and equipment.
- Sets up and assembles air conditioning units (condensers and evaporators), heat pumps and heat/cold diffusion elements.
- Traces and assembles the air-conditioning network, connecting the accessories of the installation.
- Assemble taps, valves, refrigerating and electrical interconnection lines, control devices, temperature regulation devices and interconnections for certain operations and condensation drains.
- Verifies the installations and carries out water tightness tests.
- Carries out the implementation of the networks.
- Carries out maintenance, conservation and repair work on air conditioning networks and equipment.
- Handles the elements, tools, materials, auxiliary means as well as collective and individual protections necessary for the execution of the work.
