Description

The technician specialized in nautical painting works with all types of boats requiring the maintenance and repair of the parts of the boat that are covered with paint. The marine environment is favourable for deteriorating materials in contact with it, especially water and salt, which can cause great erosion.
The technician specialized in nautical painting is responsible for maintaining the paint in perfect condition that protects the most structural elements of the boat. Therefore, the main task is to protect, repair and paint the surfaces of sport and recreational boats. As a specialist technician, this professional is in charge of maintaining the hull of the boat, the main structures, the elements and the systems that make up the recreational boats in a good state of conservation and operation. In addition, he uses established procedures and complies with the safety, occupational risk prevention and environmental specifications of his work.
Among the specific tasks, the affected parts where the repair or maintenance operation has been carried out must be cleaned, caulked, polished and finished. It is basically a manual task but requires knowledge and use of specific tools and materials (paints, varnishes, fibres, plastics, wood, etc.) specific to the trade. The technician specialized in boat painting does a very specific job which is therefore fundamental in the maintenance and care of the boats.
This professional carries out the activity in small companies dedicated to the maintenance of recreational boats.

Tasks

- Prepare the paint by mixing paint and solvent according to a specific formula.
- Specify the characteristics of the materials and the area to be repaired.
- Identify and collaborate in the planning of the work to be done.
- Prepare the surface to be painted (degreasing, cleaning, etc.) and prepare the tools and products to be used.
- Carry out the painting taking into account the regulations on prevention of occupational and environmental risks.
- Carry out caulking, polishing and finishing in the areas indicated.
- Record the work performed, specifying the tasks, tools and equipment used for subsequent quality control of the work performed.
- Schedule the purchase of paints and solvents.
- Maintain a fluid relationship with other professionals involved in the repair and maintenance of the boat.
