Description
The person in charge of recreational Boat Navigation assumes responsibility for the boat, crew and passengers on the boat, taking care of navigation, safety and compliance with applicable regulations.
The size of the recreational boat determines the qualification of the person in charge of navigation, and therefore it is always necessary to be in possession of the corresponding certification, since this also determines the type of navigation that can be carried out.

Training
As Port Skipper:
An Official Port Skipper Certification helps prepare the student for planning and steering a coastal voyage and helps to determine their status safely. Controls the functioning of the ship and the welfare of persons on board; act as skipper of merchant ships of not more than 100 GT operating within 3 miles of a port and carrying a maximum of 150 passengers. Accredited by the Directorate General of Merchant Marine (DGMM) alongside ISO 9001 quality certification which gives the Port Skipper training in accordance with the STCW Training Agreement. The STCW Training Agreement establishes the minimum standards for providing nautical training in an identical manner for all nations.
As certified PPER Skipper:
Professional Skipper of Recreational Boats (PPER) official certification, which enables holders to steer boats up to 24 meters in length, sail up to 60 miles from the coast and carry up to 12 passengers including crew. This certification is issued and regulated by the Directorate General of Merchant Marine, under the Ministry of Development.
To qualify for the PPER certificate, you must be at least 20 years of age, undergo a medical boarding examination, and make a responsible declaration that you have sailed 2,500 miles in 50 days of sailing, as practical training. The PPER combines the certificates of recreation:
ŋ Recreational boat skipper: can handle boats up to 15 meters in length.
ŋ Yacht skipper: can handle boats up to 24 metres in length.
ŋ Yacht captain: can handle boats up to 24 meters in length, with no geographical limit in navigation.
As a recreational boat skipper: can handle boats up to 15 meters in length.
As a yacht skipper: can handle boats up to 24 metres in length.
As a yacht captain: can handle boats up to 24 meters in length, with no geographical limit in navigation.
