Independent telecommunications engineer. Engineer of common telecommunications infrastructures

This professional is responsible for drawing up the technical plans (while observing the architectural plans), which determine the characteristics of the CTIs (Common Telecommunications Infrastructures) in a building, by virtue of the current regulations and the needs of each case. A CTI is a high-quality infrastructure applied to buildings that provides citizens with access to the current communication services (landline telephone - via cable or radio, ISDN, Internet, analogue and digital terrestrial TV and Radio, analogue and digital satellite TV and Radio, cable telecommunications and new services, such as LMDS and XDSL), which guarantees free competition and the security of the communications.

• Draw up the technical plans that describe common telecommunications infrastructures that must be included inside the buildings. This document includes: a report with a description of the dimensions and all elements related to their installation and location, and the standards that govern them; the plans and diagrams necessary for the infrastructure's installation; the specifications that describe the materials used, and the material and installation budgets.
• Prepare the works completion report and certificate, which guarantee that the installation has been carried out in accordance with the technical plans. The report and certificate are presented to the owner of the installation and, if necessary, to the respective Provincial Prefecture of Telecommunications Inspection.
• Determine the test protocol to which the installation has been subjected in order to ensure its quality.
• They are in charge of safeguarding, during the installation warranty period, the documentation and handbooks on the installation and maintenance of the equipment and materials used, and presenting to the owner the respective instructions for using the installations carried out.
