This professional is responsible for designing and producing electronic radio frequency and microwaves devices to be installed on satellites, and especially telecommunications satellites. The specific duties of this occupation range from the electronic design of the system, to the building of prototypes which are tested using simulators, and the creation of a final product which works smoothly, having passed the tests and satisfied all of the initial demands expressed. They work on the basis of specific commissions from clients, meaning they are expected to create designs ad hoc in order to meet the requirements.

• Identify alternatives circuits (possible circuit architectures) and study the supply of its components.
• Carry out simulations of computer operations and use iterative calculation procedures (repetition of the calculation for successive approximation) until arriving at the solution that best accommodates the requirements that should be satisfied by the system.
• Supervise the work of prototyping technical teams during the prototype construction process.
• Develop the test process and depending on results obtained, correct the model until achieving the definitive format, carrying out constant reviews or even putting together quality control protocols to apply to the system developed.
• Chooses the model that will be eventually developed.
• Prepare design documentation (called the Design Report), that registers the entire construction process of the final prototype.
