Surface treatments are intended to protect surfaces from oxidation and corrosion, because some metals can rust when they come in contact with atmosphere or water. These treatments can be as functional as decorative and can be applied to a wide range of materials: steel, aluminium, plastics, etc. They require careful work in accordance with the setteled standards, either with a more decorative end or for pieces and elements intended for a part of a production process. As an example, surface treatment is key for the automotive industry, as well as for aerospace and shipping industry, where it is crucial to ensure ship materials and mechanisms durability, as well as the quality of the final treatment. This type of treatment is an important part of the production process in any industry sector where surface treatment it's a must (for example, production of bicycles).

The surface treatment technician intervenes in the different operations of the surface treatment processes, both in the production and industrial maintenance stages, controlling the obtained product, as well as the operation, start-up and stopping of equipment and facilities. It is also responsible for the top-notch maintenance of equipment and facilities, and for ensuring production under the required quality, safety and delivery times.

• Analyzes preparation techniques of required products to carry out surface treatments, in accordance with the technical specifications established and with safety rules.
• Controls surface treatment preparation equipment and facilities in safe conditions.
• Performs manufacture control, from control guidelines accordingly to planned means and makes the corresponding report.
• Program the equipment (PLCs and robots) or installations on them, depending on the work process, optimizing their use.
• Controls the regulating elements of the automatic treatment facilities, to guarantee facilities proper operation, in accordance with the established process.
• Verify the top-notch equipment and facilities maintenance, according to established rules, to guarantee its functionality, communicating errors that cannot be properly solved in time and form.
• Periodically, calibrates equipment under its responsability according to calibration rules and established procedures.
