Powder metallurgy specialists are experts in the technique which combines temperature, metal powders and compacting of this powder in order to obtain a product with particular properties such as lubrication or anti-friction, etc.... Specialists should also be sufficiently familiar with laboratory tecniques in order to determine the metal powder and temperature necessary in order to obtain the desired product. Powder metallurgy specialists report to the plant manager or production manager.

• Plan the composition of the metals' dust in accordance with the tasks that the pieces or products that will be manufactured must carry out.
• Collaborate with the mould designers.
• Plan the production process of the pieces or products (heat treatment, cooling, pressing, impregnation, etc).
• Control the quality or work together with the quality department.
• Suggest constant improvements in the manufacturing process, as well as new techniques.
• Contact clients and suppliers of raw materials.
