Description

Development engineers are responsible for the implementation of equipment projects. They tend to specialise in one of the Avionics subsystems. Avionics systems are made up of various subsystems: the communications control equipment, components to modify position (flight altitude, GPS position, etc.), and safety, navigation and flight control machines. In short, Avionics refers to the electronic and electrical devices used on board an aircraft.

Tasks

  • Ensure the compatibility of connections and that the subsystems function correctly. This task is based on the analysis of both the functional requirements which must be met by the project and the relationship to be established between the various machines and components that make up the system.
It is important to ensure that nothing interferes with the correct functioning of the general avionics system, especially where the subsystems operate concurrently or are connected to one another.
  • Produce the design for the installation of the aircraft equipment and, following consultation with the client or contractor, deal with specific issues related to the placement of the equipment and requirements in terms of space.
  • Design the wiring and interfaces of the subsystem (known as the design path).
  • Draw up the subsystem use and maintenance manuals.
  • Perform operability tests on the subsystem until it functions as desired.
