Description

The milling programmer is working on the prototype fabrication phase, preparing and developing the software necessary for the milling machines to work and prototype.

A CAD / CAM (computer-aided manufacturing) software such as TEBIS is typically used, a computer tool based on the three-dimensional model developed by the ALIAS modeler that defines the requirements for milling machines. This powerful calculator and drawing tool allow to simulate and test the process by making the appropriate checks and introducing the necessary rectifications before the final production process. With this software tool it is possible to load the construction data in sequences and to prepare for the programming. One of the most common programming is CNC (computer numerical control) from TEBIS (in the case that direct CNC programming on the machine has not been performed).

Tasks

Tasks performed by the milling programmer are:
  • Use the TEBIS tool to properly develop the prototype with the milling machine.
  • Develop the program for operating the milling machine from three-dimensional graphic models. It also determines and defines the required needs to make the prototype.
  • Determines and defines the technical and technological parameters (type of milling and milling, setting, speed ...) to make the prototype.
  • It monitors the production of the prototype piece in the milling area until the process is complete.
