Casting technician

The casting specialist must know the casting techniques that combine temperature and raw materials in accordance with the selected casting system. Additionally, the casting specialist must have sufficient knowledge in order to obtain alloys when combining different percentages of metals. The casting specialist must be familiar with laboratory techniques in order to be able to determine whether the product or alloy obtained is the most suitable. Due to the division between ferrous and non-ferrous casting, there is a division between the different casting specialisations (steel, aluminium, copper, etc). This profile usually answers to the plant manager or production director.

• Participate in the mould's design, in collaboration with the technical office or external company.
• Plan the production process in accordance with the clients' technical specifications.
• Specify the type of raw material that fulfils the clients' specifications (alloys, ingot and scrap iron combinations, etc).
• Control the quality of the raw material, casting and the cast piece or product.
• Follow and control the production process.
• Collaborate with those responsible for the environment and occupational risk prevention.
• Plan the maintenance of the facilities.
• Propose production improvements.
