Mechanic - Electrician; Industrial Maintenance Mechanic; Lift Mechanic; Household Electrical Goods Mechanic

This professional is responsible for adjusting, regulating, installing and repairing electrical machines, electrical installations and other electrical devices and equipment in buildings, factories, workshops and other places where they are used, within the sphere of the Low-Voltage Electro-Technical Regulations. For this, they apply the techniques and procedures required in each case, achieving the criteria of quality, under safe conditions and complying with current regulations.

They carry out their professional work in small- and medium-sized companies, mainly private, as self-employed or as an employee, in the areas of assembly and maintenance of low-voltage electrical installations, and their activity is regulated.

• Adjust, regulate and repair different classes of electrical machines and motors, generators, distribution devices and electrical instrument controls or electrical parts of lifts and related equipment:
  Install rotating electrical machines and transformers, under the established safety conditions and in accordance with current legislation.
  Adjust, regulate and repair electrical parts of domestic devices and industrial and other machines.
• Install, test, connect, start up, maintain and modify electrical equipment and wiring and control systems:
  Prepare electrical cabinets and circuit boards, among others, for the assembly of manoeuvre, protection and control circuits of electro-technical devices.
  Fit the manoeuvre, protection and control circuits of electro-technical devices in cabinets and circuit boards, among others, with the established quality and complying with safety standards.
• Carry out automated installations (control equipment, sensors, actuators and detectors, among others) under conditions of safety and quality:
  Fit automated installations and electrical automatisms.
  Install, maintain and repair electrical and hydraulic lifts and service lifts, mechanical stairways, moving walkways and other lifting equipment.
  Connect electrical systems to the power supply.

El context professional obliga a utilitzar informació derivada de plànols i projectes mecànics i d'instal·lacions automatitzades, amb un ampli coneixement del Reglament electrotècnic de baixa tensió i de les diferents normatives relacionades amb les instal·lacions (normes administratives a nivell de comunitat autònoma o municipal, normes internacionals -UNE-, normes de les companyies elèctriques, ordenances municipals i altres normes administratives), així com procediments normalitzats, comunicats i informes.

A nivell de mitjans de producció i recursos utilitza eines manuals per a treballs elèctrics i mecànics, instrumentació elèctrica, màquines per a treball de mecanització bàsica, instruments de mesura i equips de seguretat. Requereix eines informàtiques (PC, impressora) i programari per a instal·lacions elèctriques.

One year's experience in the sector in maintenance and repair tasks of electrical equipment is recommended.

• Initial investments

  As a self-employed worker, there is no need for any great investment to start up as they work in the place where the machine or installation on which action is to be taken is located. In this sense, it does require a means of transport that ensures mobility. When they have greater autonomy and they have a worker, it is a good idea to have their own premises or establishment. The initial investment, if starting out with good experience, can be small (€ 6,000) although they will have to work as subcontracted without their own customers in a first phase.
